Nucleic Acid Analysis
For DNA and RNA quality control, the fully automated sample processing enables the unattended analysis of size, concentration, and integrity, with a sample number between 1 and 96. The TapeStation system provides a complete solution for true end-to-end sample quality control within any NGS workflow, covering the full range of DNA and RNA and offering high levels of flexibility.
Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 5
The QuantStudio 5 real-time PCR system uses proven OptiFlex™ technology (featuring 6 decoupled channels and white LED), features six independent VeriFlex™ temperature zones, and hence enables improved data accuracy and sensitivity for a broad range of genomic applications. The instrument is in 96-well 0.2 mL format, with simplified software with an interactive touchscreen for greater ease of use.
MP Biomedicals FastPrep-24 5G Homogenizer
The FastPrep-24™ 5G disruption instrument is designed to quickly and efficiently homogenize, grind, or lyse biological samples. It uses a unique, optimized motion to disrupt cells through the multidirectional, simultaneous beating of specialized Lysing Matrix beads, supplied ready-to-use, certified nuclease-free, and in a variety of sample type-specific compositions. It is suitable for lysis of all sample types, such as yeast, fungi, bacteria, soft tissues and cells, fecal or soil samples.
Covaris M220 Focused-Ultrasonicator
Covaris focused-ultrasonicator uses Adaptive Focused Acoustics® (AFA) technology to deliver high frequency, accurately focused, and specifically targeted acoustic energy to samples for a variety of application areas including DNA/RNA/Chromatin shearing, DNA/RNA/protein extraction from FFPE, tissue, and cell lysis. The characteristics of the instrument enable a highly reproducible and isothermal process, reducing experimental variation and heat-induced damage to the sample.
Sage Science BluePippin collects DNA in electrophoresis with size selection ranged from 100 bp to 50 kb. It uses pulsed-field electrophoresis for resolving and collecting high molecular weight (HMW) DNA and runs up to 5 samples per gel cassette with no cross-contamination. Its sample-to-sample reproducibility of DNA fraction improves downstream analysis.
Standard DNA Size Selection Cassettes:
3% agarose: 100-250 bp
2% agarose: 100-600 bp
1.5 % agarose: 250-1500 bp
0.75% agarose: 1-50 kb
High Pass Plus Cassettes:
15 kb High Pass
Molecular Devices SpectraMax iD3
SpectraMax iD3 Multi-Mode Microplate Reader measures absorbance (230 – 1000 nm), fluorescence (excitation: 250 – 830 nm; emission: 270 – 850 nm), and luminescence (300 – 850 nm) in microplates (6 – 384 wells) via the touchscreen or a connected computer with SoftMax Pro software. The system enables linear, orbital and double orbital plate shaking; and allows endpoint and kinetic measurements, as well as spectrum scan and well scan, with monochromator tunable in 1-nm increments for wavelength selection.
Invitrogen Qubit 4 Fluorometer
Qubit 4, with easy-to-use touch screen menus, is a popular benchtop fluorometer for accurate measurement of DNA, RNA, and protein quantity. It uses as little as 1 µl of the sample, is more sensitive and reliable than UV absorbance-based spectrophotometer quantification. Mainly, two assays, broad range and high sensitivity, are available for dsDNA and RNA, respectively.
broad range (BR): DNA: 4 – 4000 ng; RNA: 20 – 1000 ng
high sensitivity (HS): DNA: 0.1 – 120 ng; RNA: 5 – 100 ng
InnovaPrep Concentrating Pipette Select
The CP select is an automated, rapid, and efficient instrument for concentrating biomaterials from liquids, including bacteria, parasites, fungi, whole cells, and viruses. It uses high-flow single-use pipette tips for robust filtration and instant sample recovery, greatly reducing time, labor and peripheral lab supplies.
